This Airport App Delivers You Food On Board

Have you ever been stuck on the runway and starving? I have, and it’s a terrible feeling. I’d rather starve than eat terrible airplane food.

Well, no need to starve if stuck on the airplane at these airports: SAN, EWR, JFK, LGA, MSP, PDX.  AtYourGate will deliver delayed passengers on the plane as long as the plane is connected to the jet bridge!

AtYourGate is an airport food app designed for everyone from passengers to flight crews and airport employees. I recently met up with app founder PJ Mastracchio in New York City to get all the details.

We’ve all been there…

When I asked PJ why he decided to create an airport app, he replied with a personal anecdote: “I am always traveling for business, and I fell asleep. When I woke up, I was starving and had a craving.”

PJ and I have something in common. Being hungry at the airport has its unique challenges above and beyond being hungry anywhere else. You can’t always get what you want when and where you need it. These food cravings always seem to happen at the most inopportune times.

So what do you do when you’ve got a food craving (I happen to get Latin food hankerings at airports often), or you’ve missed an opportunity to eat in transit? Get this airport food app.

Six ways AtYourGate can make your airport experience better

1. Order in flight

AtYourGate lets you order while you are in flight. When you land, your order will be ready at the gate. You can also order if you are stuck on the airplane and haven’t parted the jet bridge.

2. Friendly, professional team

AtYourGate’s delivery staff do much more than just transport food. They are a friendly team and very knowledgeable about the airport. Need to know where to go when you disembark? The app’s delivery crew can help you in the right direction.

They carry SIDA badges (Secure Information Display Area) which allows them the security clearance to navigate beyond the gate.

3. Alcohol delivered anywhere

That’s right. At JFK Terminal 4, you can now have alcoholic beverages provided to you at your gate, or anywhere. Cheers to that!

4. Pre-order before you arrive at the airport

You can pre-order food 24 hours before your arrival at the airport. It will save you some time and time is of the essence at the airport, especially when you’re running late and running hungry.

5. Special instructions are noted carefully

Got a gluten intolerance? Allergic to nuts? AtYourGate takes special care with specific food requirements. You can write in special instructions or advise them of your allergies within the app.

6. Deliver to precise locations

If you happen to be in LGA, you can order food and have it delivered to your Jabbrrbox work station. These workstations are designed for travelers to get some privacy and quiet. Now you can get your food delivered straight to your pod while you enjoy your own private space.

AtYourGate is good at finding you in a busy airport, but don’t worry about moving from the exact spot you said you’d be. They will call you if they can’t find you, and sometimes flight attendants will announce your food delivery on the plane.

AtYourGate is a savvy solution to hunger pangs at the airport. Whether you’re hungry on the tarmac, at your gate, or anywhere in the airport, they will come to you with food. What could be better?
