We are always on the hunt for healthy airport food and all things green. Green juice, green serene rooms, green walking trails, green food, you name it. Of course, it goes without saying that one of our obsessions is avocado toast.
Believe it or not there are over 890,000 Instagram images of #avocadotoast. Avocado toast is one of our favorite healthy airport food heros, and now there are plenty of places to find this nutritious snack at airports around the world.
Where did avocado toast come from?
Melbourne is where Besha Rodell—the LA Weekly food critic and an Aussie herself—first got to know avocado toast. Australia, like England, has a penchant for serving things on toast.
“Avocado toast is a 100 percent Australian invention,” Rodell wrote last year on Eater, “insofar as any one ingredient on a piece of bread can be.” There’s little doubt that modern avo toast—the Instagram kind—can trace its existence to that continent.
