Orlando Airport Therapy Dogs Pilot Program Has Just Launched

Orlando Airport therapy dogs pilot program just launched this last Friday!

We think the airport has put its best paws forward by launching the all-new “MCO Paw Pilots” program.

The new Orlando Airport therapy dogs program offers travelers the chance to decompress during travel. Studies show that interacting with animals increases the hormone oxytocin, which makes us feel happier. And we all want happier at airports!

What to know about the Orlando Airport, “MCO Paw Pilots.”

“MCO Paw Pilots” is made up of ten teams that roam the airports landside. The teams come in during the week in two-hour shifts.

Orlando Airport “MCO Paw Pilots” is a trial program for now.  However, the program will be evaluated next year to determine if it will become a long-term customer service program.

Orlando International has partnered with the Alliance of Therapy Dogs to screen potential dogs and their handlers. All “MCO Paw Pilot” dogs have been a certified therapy dog for at least two years. Further, the pups pass both an in-person screening and an in-terminal test before being invited to work at MCO.

Below is a roster of all the dogs, and their breeds, participating in the “MCO Paw Pilots” program:

  • Annabel, Golden Retriever
  • Annie, Golden Retriever Fifi, Miniature Schnauzer
  • Daisy-Mai, Pomeranian Jora, Golden, and Labrador Retriever mix
  • Essie, a rescue we think is a Corgi-Border Collie mix Tori, German Shepherd
  • Farley, Bearded, and Border Collie mix Woody, Basset Hound
